Message Board

Message Board

The Purpose of this resource:

This resource is used to support children in taking messages around the school.

How to use this resource:

Use this when children need to take a message to the office, another classroom, or to a specific person.

Have photos of people in the school, and photos of areas in the school such as the office, library, canteen, and other classrooms. You could also use pictures to represent these areas or written labels.

When the child needs to go on a message, the photo of the person is put in the 'who?' column and the photo/picture/symbol of where they need to go is put in the 'where?' column. The 'what?' column can be used for a short written message. There may be nothing in the 'what?' column if the child has an item that they need to carry to give to the person.

An example is available to download below.

Preparation of this resource:

Copy and laminate the board.

Print and laminate photos of people in the school and symbols or pictures for areas such as classrooms, the office, library, canteen, and any other areas you might need.

Place ‘furry’ Velcro in each column on the board.

Place ‘sticky’ Velcro on the back of the laminated photos/symbols/pictures. Store each picture in a folder or on a felt board.
