Phonology
Phonology
Phonology involves the pattern of sound use.
An individual with difficulties with phonology can produce inidvidual sounds but does not understand the contrast between sounds. As a result he/she may have difficulty understanding why 2 words are different and therefore have different meanings.
For example: An individual with a phonological disorder may use the sounds 's' and 'sh' interchangeably. They may not recognise and understand that there is a meaningful difference between the words 'sock' and 'shock'.
