Recount Scaffold Prompt - What?

Recount Scaffold Prompt - What?

Description of Resource:

This is a visual prompt for answering 'what' questions. It supports children in answering 'what' questions when writing recounts or when answering questions such as ' What did you do yesterday?' or 'What do you like to do?' It is a single page poster with visual cues using Picture Communication Symbols representing different activities children may participate in.

How would you use it?

This resource could be printed and laminated to make posters for prompts when writing recounts or asking/answering questions. It could also be printed half or quarter size and added to a ring with prompt cards for the other three 'wh' questions to make it more portable and able to be used with individual students.

This resource can be used in conjunction with the Recount Scaffold template found in the list of resources on the previous page.

How could you adapt it?

This resource could be adapted by changing the symbols to represent different activities or specific activities relevant to the child. For narrative writing the pictures could include different types of activities related to the writing topic.
