Voice & Vocal Hygiene

Voice refers to the quality, pitch and volume (loud, soft) of a student’s voice when speaking or vocalising.

A student with impaired vocal function may have a voice that sounds breathy, strained or rough. Their voice may stop or ‘break’ unexpectedly, or vary in pitch or volume in an uncontrolled manner.

This could make them more difficult to understand, particularly in a situation where they need to speak over background noise.
