Description Scaffolds
Board of Studies have explained the ‘General Features of a Description’ in their 1998 document ‘English K-6 Modules’ and are a vital text type to use in building communication skills.
Descriptions are used to draw attention to the characteristic features of a particular thing (Board of Studies, (1998). The focus could be on a person, place or thing and it can be impressionistic/imaginative or objective (Board of Studies, (1998).
